Heart of The Haven Church:
Core Beliefs/ Practice
We believe:
Prayer is key to moving the work of God forward. Without prayer a church is merely working in
the strength of their own flesh, but a church that focuses on prayer and communion with the
Father is a church that can move mountains and see their community transformed.
A Servant’s heart in the leadership of the Haven is critical to successful implementation of this
mission. Jesus said, “... You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those in
high positions act as tyrants over them. It must not be like that among you. On the contrary,
whoever wants to be great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first
among you must be your slave; just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve,
and to give His life as a ransom for many.” Matthew 20:25
Marriage is a covenant between God and two people, one biological male and one biological
female.
The Haven's role is:
Equip the saints to mature in their relationship with God
Equip the saints to mature in their relationship with others
Equip the saints to live and share the Good News everywhere through
Prayer (personal and corporate, devotional and intercessory)
Bible Study (personal and corporate)
Mentorships and fellowship groups
Outreaches, Community Activities, Benevolence Ministry, ...
In practice we:
Prioritize prayer as the primary means of communing with God. Saints are encouraged to pray
and support each other in prayer. Prayer is incorporated into all meetings/activities.
Study God’s Word privately and corporately, provide opportunities for men, women and
children both through topical and exegetical studies.
Worship in liberty of the Spirit. The object of our worship is God alone, not performance or
personal agenda.
Share communion with those in the Body of Christ.
Provide growth opportunities for children’s groups, Preteen and teen Bible Studies and
Fellowship groups, men’s, women’s couples, home groups, service opportunities etc.
Baptize by immersion upon the request of a person to publicly demonstrate their desire to
identify with the Body of Christ as repentant, saved by grace, believers.
Fellowship with Saints through congregational gatherings, church services, Bible Studies,
recreational activities, work parties, and home groups.
Invite those outside the Body to come and join us through personal invitation, social media,
relationship, and etc.
Provide physical provision to those in need both in the body and in the community, through
both Storehouse and benevolence ministries.
ἐκκλησία (Ekklesia)
“The Called Out Ones”
It was He Who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Ephesians 4:11-13
Also “...workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in different kinds of tongues (languages).” I Corinthians 12:28

Haven Purpose: To fulfill the great Commission:

Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the Name of the Father and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you.
And remember I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
To be a family of obedient disciples making disciples in our homes, in Nooksack Valley
and the world.
