Sabbath Practice
A holy rhythm of rest, worship, and renewal

Sabbath is a sacred rhythm of rest, worship, and renewal.
It is a time to step away from normal work and constant hurry so we can slow down, delight in God, and be refreshed in His presence. Sabbath is not about legalism; it is about trust, peace, and making room for what matters most.
Simple ways to practice Sabbath
Begin by setting aside intentional time to rest. Put away distractions. Make room for worship, prayer, Scripture, and peaceful reflection. Share a meal, take a walk, be present with people you love, and let your soul breathe again. Sabbath is about receiving from God, not proving something to Him.
Psalm 46:10
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
Simple Ways to Practice the Sabbath
-
Light a Sabbath candle to mark the beginning of a sacred time of rest and reflection.
-
Pray together as a family, inviting God into the rhythm of the day.
-
Read a passage of Scripture slowly and reflect on what God is saying.
-
Share communion as a family, remembering Christ and giving thanks for His grace.
-
Worship together through music, prayer, or quiet gratitude.
-
Enjoy a meal together without rushing or distractions.
-
Turn off phones and limit technology so your mind can rest.
-
Take a walk in nature and thank God for His creation.
-
Journal or reflect on where you saw God at work during the week.
-
Speak blessings over your family, praying for the week ahead.
-
Practice gratitude, naming the things God has done in your life.
-
Spend unhurried time with loved ones, enjoying meaningful conversation.
-
Rest your body, allowing yourself to slow down and breathe.
-
Read something that nourishes your soul rather than your schedule.
-
Simply be still before God, remembering that your life is held in His hands.
Isaiah 58:13–14
“If you call the Sabbath a delight… then you will find your joy in the Lord.”
Mark 2:27
“The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.”
Psalm 23:2–3
“He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul.”
